- 2 Honeycrisp apples, sliced
- 3 tablespoons salted butter
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 wheel of brie (8–12 ounces)
- 2 tablespoons apple butter or fig preserves
- 1 beaten egg (for brushing)
- Coarse sugar (for sprinkling)
- Fresh thyme (for garnish)
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Step 2: Caramelize the Apples: In a baking dish, toss the apple slices with butter and maple syrup. Roast for about 25 minutes, until soft and caramelized.
- Step 3: Prepare the Brie and Puff Pastry: On a lined baking sheet, place the puff pastry and set the brie wheel in the center. Cut away a small section of the brie rind from the top, leaving the rest intact. Spread apple butter or fig preserves on the exposed top of the brie.
- Step 4: Wrap the Brie in Pastry: Fold the pastry over the brie, sealing the edges. Brush the pastry with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
- Step 5: Bake: Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the pastry is golden and crisp.
- Step 6: Serve: Top the baked brie with the roasted apples, garnish with fresh thyme, and serve warm with crackers or enjoy on its own.
